Theological Talk Back: How do we make sense of divine violence in the Old Testament?

An opportunity to fellowship and dialogue together on some of the most theologically challenging topics.

How do we make sense of divine violence in the Old Testament?

Many of us wrestle with the stories in the Old Testament where God seems to enact or command violence upon people. Stories like Noah and the Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the conquest of Canaan. How do we as people who believe that God is good and that every word of the Bible is divinely inspired make sense of these stories? This talk will seek to answer this question while also equipping you to think deeply about what the Bible really says rather than falling into common misconceptions and caricatures of the Old Testament.

  • Dinner and kids programming provided (infant-4th grade) with registration by June 1!

  • Cost is $5/person for dinner. If you need financial assistance, please contact Eelinh at eelinh@citylifechurch.org.

You can either join us early for dinner or just attend the talk and Q&A time beginning at 6:45 pm. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

Schedule:
Dinner: 6-6:45 pm
(Kids Programming: 6:30-8 pm)
Talk 6:45-7:30 pm
Q&A 7:30-8:00 pm

Theological Talk Back: What does the Bible say about Heaven and Hell?

An opportunity to fellowship and dialogue together on some of the most theologically challenging topics.

What does the Bible say about Heaven and Hell?

Is there life after death? And if so, what does it look like? So many people have asked and tried to answer these questions, but unfortunately, many of the things people believe about the after life, even Christians, come from extra biblical sources like fictional books, movies, or songs. In this talk, we will look at what the Bible actually says about Heaven and Hell and how that should shape how we live and share the gospel with others.

  • Dinner and kids programming provided (infant-4th grade) with registration by July 6!

  • Cost is $5/person for dinner. If you need financial assistance, please contact Eelinh at eelinh@citylifechurch.org.
